Tech giant Google announced on Thursday that it is rolling out a new feature for Google Hangouts service. Google Hangouts is an application that allows users to chat as well as do video conference calls.

According to ZDNet, the new update will allow Google Hangouts meeting organizers to invite participants into a conference even if these users do not own a Google account. Many tech analysts said that the new feature is part of Google's plan to make its services appeal to users, even though they are not directly connected to Google.

Google announced the update on its official blog post, "Starting today, we're making this feature even more useful by removing the requirement that guests have a Google account in order to join a Hangouts video call. Here's how it works: guests without a Google account who have been provided with the video call link by the organizer will be asked to provide their name and then request to join the call."

With the new update, non-Google account holders can join a Hangouts conference if they are invited. The request to join a Hangouts conference will come in the form of a Google Calendar invite. The only requirement need in order to join a conference is the user's name.

Organizers of a Hangouts conference will still retain their ability to manage the meetings. They still have the authority to add, mute and eject participants.

The new feature might sound like a minor upgrade for Hangouts. However, many analysts consider it as major move for Google. By adding this new feature, the company can now stretch its services to those who do not have an account and potentially turn them into an account holders.

Google said that the update will be rolled out this week.
