Singer and X Factor UK host Olly Murs has asked the show's viewers to look past his recent blunder saying that the incident has been "massively blown out of proportion."
The 31-year old co-host of the ITV talent, who was presenting the show alongside Harry Styles' ex-flame Caroline Flack, made a mistake while announcing Sunday's live results. He accidentaly announced that singer Monica Michael would be leaving the show, instead of taking the judges votes to Deadlock.

The error caused a huge meltdown on Twitter. Some viewers have demanded the return of the show's previous host Dermot O'Leary, who parted ways with X Factor earlier this year.
While talking about the backlash of his blunder with The Mirror, Murs said "At the end of the day, I made a huge mistake but it has been blown way out of proportion. I had no idea Monica was leaving until I got the envelope" he said. "And it was just a really awkward moment for me because I made astupid mistake."
Monica Michaels has since backed Olly over the mistake saying "God knows what was told in his ear piece. I feel really sorry for him because he did not mean to do it. He kept apologizing after what had happened. He kept saying he was sorry."
As for a scolding from Mr. Simon Cowell, Murs revealed "I was expecting a little telling off from him if I'm being honest but I'm glad it did not happen."
