In an bid to quash rumors that their marriage is in trouble, The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder recently shared in an interview with WGNO how grateful he is to have found an "incredible partner" in Twilight actress, Nikki Reed.

The 36-year-old star said he had once rebutted a man for saying "Behind every great man is a good woman."

Somerhalder claims to have told the man that the said saying should instead be revised to "Next to every great man is an even better woman."

The actor continued on the thought saying that he is grateful that he has found an "even better woman" and that she is in his life.

The couple is said to be planning to have a baby in the near future.

Recently, Somerhalder has been the subject of gossip after he openly shared his relief that his former girlfriend and co-star Nina Dobrev decided to leave "The Vampire Diaries". While Somerhalder admitted that he didn't know how the show would proceed after Dobrev's departure, he did confess that the loss of Dobrev's character Elena would put more focus on his character Damon. He believes that the seventh season is the best so far, especially now that it can focus on what it was meant to be about.

The set of the hit series was said to have been extremely tense after its two main stars broke up. Somerhalder added more fuel to fire when he entered into a relationship and eventually married Reed, Dobrev's former friend.
