Five-time Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC defeated UAE's Al-Ahli Dubai FC, 1-0, in the second leg of the final of the 2015 AFC Champions League on Saturday at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou to clinch their second title in the prestigious annual Asian football competition.

Guangzhou, who first claimed the Champions League title back in 2013 against South Korean club FC Seoul, won the final round on aggregate after they settled for a goalless draw with Al-Ahli during the first leg at the Al-Rashid Stadium in Dubai on November 7.

Brazilian winger Elkeson provided the lone goal of the match at the 54th-minute mark for Luiz Felipe Scolari's side after receiving a perfect cross then performed an "instinctive turn and toe-poke", as coined by Channel News Asia, to give the victory to the China squad.

Al-Ahli center back Salmin Khamis was sent off with a direct red flag seven minutes after the hour mark after he stepped on Guangzhou left winger Zheng Long, whom he dragged down on the ground perhaps due to frustration.

The one-man disadvantage did not deter the Knights as they even gave the home crowd a few scares in the late minutes as they went on the offensive and got a few chances for an equalizer.

Brazilian Lima almost gave Al-Ahli a goal in the closing minutes as he went all alone on a breakaway, but his shot was blocked by South Korean defender Kim Young-gwon, as per Goal.

The Southern China Tigers held their own on defense against the 10-man squad until the final whistle to pull off the historic win amidst the deafening cheers of their fans.

It was the same story as the first leg of the final since Al-Ahli also played the final minutes of the first leg with a man down as right back Abdulaziz Haikel was sent off six minutes before full time in Dubai.

Only this time Guangzhou was able to secure a goal before any sending off took place.
