Hilton Hotel, the famous U.S. based hotel chain, faced a security breach as several branches in their hotel have experienced cyberattacks as the hackers steal the customer's credit card data by the use of malware, according to official statement by the Hilton Worldwide Company, Sputnik News reports.

"Hilton Worldwide has identified and taken action to eradicate unauthorized malware that targeted payment card information in some point-of-sale systems," said an official representative of the company last Tuesday.

The company also added that they are launching an official investigation and are currently strengthening their computer systems.

Representatives from Hilton stated that it is still uncertain whether the card data affected was through credit or debit account.

Hilton has released a recent advisory for the customers who processed 'cashless' transactions through the dates: November 18- December 2014 and April 21, 2015-July 27, 2015.

The malware didn't uncover a customer's personal data such as home addresses and pin codes, but it got a grasp on the card numbers, security codes and account names.

These following data can give the hacker power to make unauthorized transactions, according to Engadget.

The advisory emphasizes on the customers to be wary of any suspicious activity in their card statements.

Hilton Worldwide Company has assured the affected individuals that the rogue code has been eradicated. The company is also offering a year worth of free credit monitoring, to provide assurance to the affected individuals.

Most have criticized that the discovery of this data breach is already a late warning to those affected. The discovery was made two months through a third party investigation and it could have been more detrimental if it was discovered at a later date.

Cyberattacks have increased rapidly worldwide in the past year. This can also be attributed to the rapid modernization of cashless purchases as form of convenient payment.
