The anticipated comeback of the Google Glass is no longer a secret, thanks in part to leaks and rumors. The latest to join the foray is a rumor claiming that Google Glass will return in a form of a monocle.

Rumors and speculations started to surface when a leaked patent filing to the United States Patent and Trademark Office provided the first peek as to what the next version of Google Glass will look like.

According to CNet, the leaked filing showed the Google Glass resting on one side of the face. The documentation that goes with the filing is titled "Wearable Device with Input and Output Structures."

The patent describes a device that can be adjusted based on its user's head and then recall the settings for later use. The device can also offer heads-up display which can be used for playing video and can be viewed in the other eye via a prism.

Google launched the first version of the Google Glass in 2013. The first iteration of the Google Glass was considered a failure despite massive marketing and endorsement campaigns.

Google stopped selling the Google Glass in January. The company said that it needs time to pause and reset its compass towards the future. At around that time, Google revealed its plans of launching the device in 2015. Unfortunately, the plan failed to come into fruition.

Tony Fadell, the genius behind the iPod and Nest smart thermostat, is now in charge of the Google Glass project. The Google Glass project is current labeled as Project Aura, according to The Verge. There are rumors claiming that the Google Glass is aiming for an enterprise release, although Google has yet to confirm this.

The latest rumor surrounding the Google Glass mainly hinges on a couple of rumors. The latest patent filing leaks could point into a completely different project that Google might be working on.
