The new world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury insists that he always knew he would win against Wladimir Klitschko after orchestrating one of the biggest shocks in recent heavyweight history.

Before the fight, Fury was a 5-1 underdog, but he proved too quick and elusive for 39-year-old Klitschko and won by a unanimous decision of 115-112, 115-112, 116-111.

According to the Guardian, the new WBO, WBA and IBF champion told reporters that he always meant what he said and that he has delivered on his words.

Although Fury thought the fight was close, he admitted that he feared the worst when in the 11th round, he lost a point for continuously hitting Klitschko around the back of the head.

He said it was hard to come to Germany and get the decision. "With that point off I thought he had won all. He continued turning away, turning around and lastly, pushed me down. But I would just like to say, Wladimir and I are grateful to Germany for having us," he said.

"I used my jab, I used my agility. But it was with the power of Lord that I made it. My God and my saviour. In the mighty name of Jesus I thank you", Fury added.

John, his father, told reporters at ringside that he thought his son could now rule for 20 years. He went on to tell Sky's news crew that "You all did not have faith in him. You are all wrong."

Fury's trainer Peter said that his mental skills made the difference. He said that boxing is not just about a one-punch KO but rather an art. "The mind always plays a big role in any game and we prepared very well for this," he said.

Bookmaker William Hill reported losing a six-figure sum on Klitschkos' defeat. "Tonight's sport took more than £1m worth of wagers. We thought it was a bookies' benefit right up tell when Tyson KO'd us for six figures," said Joe Crilly, a spokesman for the company.
