There are rumors that "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin may complete the much-anticipated book "Winds of Winter" by Feb. 23, 2016.

HBO is all set to air the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 in April and fans are hoping that the book would be released before that, as it follows the storyline to some extent. There were rumors earlier that the book would be released by the Christmas season but with no confirmed release date in sight. Hopes were dashed when Martin disclosed recently that despite his best intentions the book is still not finished.

Martin canceled numerous public appearances in order to focus on the book and it is expected that "Winds of Winter" release date would happen before the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere. HBO even delayed the air date of the show by several weeks to allow some leeway to the author, but in vain.

However, now according to BryndenBFish, views on the matter in Wars and Politics of Ice and Fire, it takes almost four to eight months for post-editing and publishing, after completion of the manuscript. He said that Martin could finish the book by Feb. 23 with an accelerated publishing schedule.

Even if he manages to finish the manuscript by the end of February, it is unlikely that the book will release before "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere, according to Parent Herald.

Meanwhile, numerous spoilers for the book "Winds of Winter" abound in which it is speculated that Jon Snow is still alive and could play an integral part in the series. A three-way civil war is also being predicted in the upcoming television show and the much-anticipated book.
