A new "Fairy Tail" anime TV series has been confirmed to air on 2016. The new show will be based on Hiro Mashima's prequel manga, "Fairy Tail Zero."

In its official Tumblr page, Kodansha Comics announced that Mashima himself will draw the anime, which will focus on the founding of the Fairy Tail guild.

Check out the official synopsis of the anime below:

"Many years ago, Mavis Vermilion was a servant on Sirius Island, mistreated by a guild master and his daughter, Zera. But Mavis stayed positive, because her mother once told her that fairies never visit people who cry about their problems."

"When the guild came under attack, Mavis pulled Zera from the wreckage into the forest. Seven years went by, and the powerful wizards Warrod Sequen, Precht, and Yuri Dreyer arrived on the island, seeking a powerful jade gemstone. This journey would change the course of magical history..."

According to Youth Health Mag, the original "Fairy Tail" manga has already had two anime adaptations, six OVAs, an anime film adaptation titled "Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess," a video game and  several spin-off mangas. Back in May, it has also been confirmed that a second movie is in the works, following the success of its predecessor.

Mamiko Noto will be voicing Mavis in the 2016 adaptation. Katsuyuki Konishi will be Yury Dreyar, Yoshihisa Kawahara as Precht Gaebolg, Hiroshi Shirokuma as Warrod Sequen and Zeref will be voiced by Akira Ishida. Kana Hanazawa will also be part of the cast as Zera.

"Fairy Tail Zero" is set to premiere by summer 2016.
