British boxer James DeGale is calling for a unification clash with the current WBC super-middleweight champion Swedish Badou Jack in Las Vegas in April after successfully defending his IBF world super-middleweight crown.

DeGale (22-1, 14 KO's) won over former IBF titlist Romania-born Canadian Lucian Bute (32-3, 25KO's) via a unanimous decision in Quebec, Canada. It was his first title defense fight after winning the vacant title against Andre Dirrell in May.

According to a Boxing News, the 2008 olympic gold medalist insists that a unification fight with Badou Jack is his main priority and wants it to happen in Las Vegas in April 2016. He is now on a contract with Al Haymon and feels a showdown bout with Jack would be one of the biggest money-maker out there.

"We're looking for me to be out again in April. Badou Jack is top of the list though. Everyone underrated him before he fought [George] Groves, then he won and suddenly people woke up to how good he is. Obviously I want to unify the titles and I know I can beat him." DeGale said.

Although the former champion Bute, who was dethroned by Carl Froch in 2012, was aggressive and busy in front of his adopted home fans, the younger DeGale landed the more-telling shots.

In a Mirror article, the british boxer is reported to have controlled the fight and gets the 116-112, 117-111, 117-111 judges' scorecards, all in his favor regardless of being hampered by a cut above his left eye suffered in an accidental clash of heads.

DeGale, 29, who is known to be a natural southpaw, also switched styles and feels he is entering his peak as he bids to clean up at 168lbs.

He is one of 11 British world champions following Tyson Fury' triumph over Wladimir Klitschko to lift the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles.
