Premier League powerhouse Manchester United is reportedly planning a £100 million raid on Everton FC, specifically targeting Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku and English defender John Stones at £50 million each.

The Daily Express reported United's intentions of acquiring two of the Toffees' most reliable players in January as Louis van Gaal is set to turn around a failing season on Manchester's standards.

United just lost an embarrassing 1-2 game to lowly club AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, which made them fall to the fourth spot in the league table. It was the third winless effort for the Red Devils and such skids are not acceptable to their fans and club owners.

Before that, United was also eliminated in the current Champions League by German club Wolfsburg, 2-3, at the Volkswagen Arena last Tuesday, increasing the pressure on van Gaal.

The 64-year-old bench tactician is being forced to add more scorers up front this coming winter transfer window as new acquisitions Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have failed to deliver so far while resident striker Wayne Rooney is still struggling to provide consistent goals for the Old Trafford giants.

United is rumored to be keen on spending £50 million for Lukaku this January as the Belgium international had been one of the most consistent scorers in the English top flight this season, the Telegraph reports.

The 22-year-old Antwerp native, who said that he would be willing and happy to play alongside Rooney anytime, scored 12 goals in 16 appearances for Roberto Martínez's side this season, which had attracted van Gaal's interest.

Meanwhile, the Independent noted that the 21-year-old Stones is also a main target of United in January for more or less the same amount that a Lukaku transfer entails.

Defending Premier League champions Chelsea are also eyeing the young center back, but their £38 million bid last summer was easily dismissed by the People's Club.

This United double bid to Everton may be too tempting for the Toffees to pass up, but it remains to be seen whether it will actually push through.
