When Google launched Project Fi, it immediately caught the attention of tech experts all over the world for its ambitious vision of bringing affordable and fast wireless service. Now, Google Project Fi is once again shaking the tech world by allowing subscribers to use the service on tablets like the iPad Air 2 and the Nexus 7.

Google Project Fi senior product manager Laura Holmes posted in a blog on Tuesday saying "As the number and variety of connected devices continues to grow, so should the number of wireless options. We'll continue to experiment with creative ways to make accessing wireless from your connected device as easy as connecting with your phone."

The latest update from Project Fi will allow tablets and other connected devices to access cellular connection while on the go. Project Fi delivers wireless services through interconnected cellular networks from Sprint, T-Mobile and local Wi-Fi networks. The latest update that adds tablets into the fold simply shows that Google is serious in its efforts to dominate the still growing mobile industry.

The latest move to include tablets, most notably the iPad Air 2, shows that Google is still pursuing its strategy to expand its services even on rival devices.

Project Fi offers a broad range of coverage for their devices. It is also significantly cheaper compared to traditional cellular service plans. Most of these cellular plans usually charge additional fees just to add a tablet or any device into their plans.

Google said that current Project Fi subscribers need not to worry about additional fee whenever they add tablets into their plan. All current Project Fi subscribers have to do is request for an additional data-only SIM and use it on their tablet. There is one catch though, unlike the phone version of the service, tablets will not be able to access the voice network.

The Google Project Fi SIM Cards currently supports five tablets; the Nexus 7, Nexus 9, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2 and Galaxy Tab S.
