Internet connection is a basic necessity for mobile phone devices such as Smartphones and Tablets. However, there are some instances that users can face interruptions in their network connection. Many Internet connections can be found around the world but some of these places do not have a stable connection, which means users cannot access online information all the time.
The main reason why Google introduced this offline feature for the Google Maps app on iOS devices is to serves as an alternative solution for those who face interrupted Internet connection.
"Now you can download an area of the world to your phone, and the next time you find there's no connectivity-whether it's a country road or an underground parking garage-Google Maps will continue to work seamlessly," said Google in a blog post.
Google recently confirmed in an email to Venture Beat that iOS users of the Google Maps app can now access the maps offline. The updated Google maps app is available for download in Apple App Store starting Dec. 14.
The new Google Maps app for iOS is capable of getting contact information, turn-by-turn driving directions, and finds specific information destinations. However, some of this feature is not available in some countries.
Google's new version of its Google Maps app for iOS is available for download for free from the Apple's App Store. The apps supports a number of languages such as English, Chinese, Catalan, Arabic, Czech, Croatian, Dutch, Hindi, Spanish, Danish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Thai and many more.
The updated app has a size of about 47.4 MB and is compatible with iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone that runs iOS 7 or above.
