'Sword Art Online' Season 3 Release in Summer 2016 As Developers Are Focused on the Movie

The very popular "Sword Art Online" Season 3 release may not happen until next summer.

The main reason behind this is that the developers are currently focusing on the movie counterpart of this show. The announcement of the delay of "Sword Art Online" Season 3 was announced at the recently held Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival.

The next season of "Sword Art Online" was originally announced to get a release date before the end of 2015. Season 3 is rumored to focus on an Underworld story arc in which the characters will be thrown into an AI simulation.

So instead of an online game, it is speculated to become an AI simulation game. It is also reported that the characters are expected to end up in a Renaissance themed world. In this place, they will be building their own region using advanced technologies.

The fans of "Sword Art Online" seem to be at peace even after the postponement of the show was announced. They are trying to focus their excitement on the development of the anime movie, which is currently under works.

It is reported that Reki Kawahara will write the movie along with the original series creator, Tomohiko Ito. It is further reported that Shingo Adachi will be designing the movie. All of these people are a part of the original team behind the successful "Sword Art Online" anime show.

However, the movie will showcase a very different story from the anime. There is no official word yet on the plot of the new movie but it is reported that the latest issue of Dengeki Bunko Magazine will bring along a lot of new information regarding the movie.
