Joyce Cheng, daughter of veteran actor Adam Cheng and late comedian Lydia Sum, has been battling with her weight since entering the entertainment industry, according to Asian Pop News.

Cheng inherited her late mother's physique and was overweight since she was young.

In 2003, Cheng became a spokesperson for a slimming centre after her weight dropped from 226 lbs (102kg) to 139 lbs (63 kg)

Cheng's drastic weight loss after shedding off more than 80 pounds paved the way for more endorsement offers but with more pressure from the public.

"That year, I played Kate Tsui's twin. There was a scene where there needed to be a closeup of our legs. They ended up using a stand in for me because my calves were too big," said Cheng on her official Facebook account, while recounted the events that happened four years ago when she starred with Kate Tsui in a movie.

Cheng, who weighed 139 lbs at that time, had already lost a lot of pounds to qualify for the role in the movie, yet she was still discriminated.

The actress also revealed that the production staff allegedly used a body double in one scene due to her large calves.

Cheng was devastated that she went home after the shoot and tried to induce vomiting in the bathroom. The actress said she cried herself to sleep after that.

Cheng lost a swimsuit endorsement because she gained 18 kg in 2013.

Cheng's weight has been a hot subject for the media, especially with her pattern of yo-yo dieting.

However, Cheng has grown stronger now and stated on her Facebook account that she would not get obsessed with making herself thin anymore. Cheng added that her health is the biggest priority than anything else.

Last year, Cheng released a statement on social media that since her mother passed away and she became focused more on her weight, she forgot that the most essential aspect of life is health.
