Apple Partners with Union Pay to Bring Apple Pay to China in Feb 2016

Apple Pay is all set to be rolled out in China next year. The Cupertino-based tech giant is going to partner with Union Pay and bring Apple Pay to China in Feb. 2016.
Union Pay is a state-owned back card association.Customers in China who use the China Union Pay debit or credit cards will be able to make online payments through their Apple devices via the Apple mobile payment service.

However, certification and testing needs to be conducted before this idea gets sanctioned. Eddy Sue, who heads Apple's Internet Software service, said in his latest interview that China is a very important market for the company. Apple is seeking the support of 15 banks in China to make this deal super convenient for their customers in China.
Worldwide mobile payment in 2015 amounted to US$431.1 billion and this figure is expected to further grow to US$721.4 billion in 2017. Apple's partnership with Union Pay will contribute more to the growth in the mobile payment market.
Chai Hongfeng, the VP of Union Pay in China, said that the company is very excited about this partnership. This deal will help Union Pay card holders to add their bank cards to Apple Pay using their Apple devices. Customers will also be able to use their Apple devices to pay for items by with the help of near-field communication (NFC) technology.
In the meantime, Samsung Pay, which was launched in August in South Korea, is available in the US now. The service is Samsung's answer to the Apple Pay. The technology is being made available in the current flagship devices of Samsung.
