Rumors suggest that Chinese Smartphone maker Meizu is working on a successor to its Pro 5 phone, which is allegedly called Meizu Pro 6. The company's new phone is expected to feature Samsung's latest Exynos 8870 chipset.

According to rumors, Samsung is working on a slightly less powerful version of its Exynos 8890 processor called the Exynos 8870. The new Samsung chipset will reportedly be sold to other manufacturers, such as the Chinese company Meizu.

If these rumors are correct, this could mean that the company's forthcoming Meizu Pro 6 will be powered by Samsung's new Exynos 8870 chipset. The Meizu Pro 5 is powered by Samsung's Exynox 7420, so it is possible that the company's next Smartphone flagship will be using the new technology.  

Meanwhile, Samsung Smartphones such as Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 5 are using the same chipset that can be found on Meizu Pro 5. Another rumor suggests that Samsung will be using the Exynos 8890 chipset in its next line of flagship phones such as the highly anticipated Galaxy S7.

GizmoChina reported that the Exynos 8870 chipset will sport the same Mongoose architecture as its more powerful variant. With this specification, the chipset will have a slower CPU and GPU frequency compared to the previous models, which is built on a 14nm FinFET fabrication process.

The new Exynos 8870 processor is still not far behind compared to the 8890 model when it comes to single core performance scores. The Exynos 8870 received about 2000 points, while the 8890 received 2270 points on Geekbench's test.

Meizu's rumored phones called Meizu Pro 6 and Pro 6 Mini could feature the Exynos 8870. It was speculated that this two Smartphones may come out by the second quarter of 2016 or even later.
