Chinese multinational electronics company TCL has announced that it will release the first ever 4K Roku TV in the spring of 2016. The company also announced that it will release a 4K TV with a built-in Roku box for online content streaming.

TCL said their upcoming TVs will support 4K streaming. The company added that it will also support all the 4K apps that are currently hosted on the Roku 4 streaming box. These include the 4K version of YouTube, Amazon Video, Netflix, M-Go, Vudu and UltraFlix. The TVs will also support the 4K Spotlight Channel including all its curated 4K contents, which are currently unavailable via Netflix.

Two sets of Roku 4K TVs will be released, these are models UP130 and US5800. The high-tiered UP130 comes with a fancy remote control (just like the one that comes with the Roku 4), a headphone jack and a voice search support. It also has a unique remote finder function. On the other hand, the lower-tiered US5800 will ship with the standard Roku TV remote control.

The two models will be available in 65, 55, 50, and 43-inch sizes. Roku is yet to reveal the official price of the upcoming 4K Roku TVs. However, a TCL representative told CNet that the 55-inch model of the US5800 will cost less than $600.

Aside from TCL, Roku announced that it is planning to partner with other electronic companies to build 4K Roku TVs. Among the confirmed partners include Hisense, Sharp, Insignia, and Haier. LG started selling 4K Roku TVs in 2014, but for a limited time only.

Roku is also planning to release an HDR version of its 4K TVs. The company said in a statement that, "Roku is also releasing the Roku TV HDR reference design for TV partners to incorporate HDR technology into future 4K UHD Roku TV models. TCL will be an initial TV partner to integrate the Roku TV HDR reference design."
