Chinese manufacturer EHang has taken the drone industry to the next level by rolling out the first ever drone that can carry a human passenger. Aiming to become the next big thing, the latest drone development will fly you to places via a smartphone app.

However, the new technology always comes with a steep price. The mini chopper that EHang calls 184 is worth between $200,000 and $300,000. A single charge of the device, which takes up to 2 hours, can carry a single person of up to 260 pounds for about 23 minutes at sea level.

Described as an "autonomous flying machine" by EHand CFO Shang Hsiao, the 440-pound 184 drone is equipped with a huge touchscreen display, a reading light, an air conditioning unit, and WiFi. By simply plugging your destination into Google Map, the EHang's 184 will take you to the place in no time. After planning the flight, a passenger is only required to execute two commands on its Microsoft Surface tablet - "take off" and "land."

The Guangzhou-based company designed the copter to fly between 1000 and 1650 feet above the ground with a maximum altitude at 115,000 feet. Its reach a top speed of 63 miles per hour. Furthermore, the electric-powered drone has four doubled and folded propellers allowing it to fit into a single parking spot.

After creating the world's first drone with a cockpit that can fit one person and a backpack, EHang is also planning to organize "command centers" to monitor air-traffic control and failsafe. Since the drone passenger does not have control after take-off, the remote control center will immediately take over the situation and ensure safe landing in the event that a problem occurs. "We will monitor, it's a whole process, all the way from the takeoff to the landing," Hsiao said.
