It looks like Chinese customers will soon be seeing those yellow-painted delivery Vespa motors as Max's Group Inc. (MGI) is looking to expand overseas and enter the Chinese market with its New York-inspired Yellow Cab pizza concept.
The biggest casual dining operator in the Philippines has signed a deal with JuyangYiTong of the Zhongfa Group, a Chinese development establishment, to franchise at least 15 Yellow Cab Pizza outlets within Hebei province as well as Beijing in the next five years. This is MGI's maiden venture in China.

In a briefing in Makati City, Philippines, Peter King, CEO of International at Max's Group, revealed that China has been its top choice for expansion. Meanwhile, Robert Trota, Max's Group President and CEO, said that despite the country's economic slow down, MGI is positive about China's big market and consumer spending.
According to Mike Zhang, Zhongfa CEO, China still welcomes neophytes in its growing pizza market, which is mainly controlled by younger entrepreneurs, who are open to ideas of foreign foods. He stated that high-paying individuals are always looking for something new to try.
"We are delighted to choose Yellow Cab Pizza as our first venture with MGI Group. Yellow Cab Pizza has everything that China's discerning customers are looking for - quality, service and ambiance," Guiping Wang, Zhongfa Group chief executive, said. Yellow Cab's first two branches will strategically be located near a university or a park scheduled to open in the second quarter of this year.
In 2012, China's pizza market soared unparalleled to become a $2-billion industry from the $822 million in 2007. The expansion of Yellow Cab Pizza to China is part of Max's Group plans to establish up to 200 international branches in the next four years.
