Then 23 years old, Geeling was plucked from obscurity after being spotted while waitressing, she then went on to audition for the role.
"It was a dream, I was in a room full of Chinese looking girls and in the end, I was the one chosen for the role. When I found out about it, I almost fainted because working with David was just something that I thought would never happen." Geeling said. "I'm blessed to have been part of his incredible talent, he was someone who has changed not just the face of music but also the face of fashion and everything in between."
Geeling remembers the time they were shooting the video, saying "David and I were supposed to look like we were in a relationship in the video and he did everything he could to make me feel comfortable and in the end he was such a pleasure to work with."
Their on-screen romance blossomed into a summer fling after David invited Geeling on his European tour.
Bowie's hit China Girl soared up to the top spot of the 1983 music charts when it came out, the video, which was directed by filmmaker David Mallet and shot predominantly in the Chinatown district of Sydney, Australia, was released soon afterwards.
Bowie passed away at the age of 69 on January 11, 2016 after an 18-month battle with cancer. His family has not disclosed what type of cancer the singer had but they confirmed that he had suffered from six cardiac arrests in the recent years leading to his death.
