Basketball News: Jamaal Franklin of Shanxi Bags the Player of the Week Award in the CBA League

Former NBA player Jamaal Franklin of Shanxi Zhonghu Brave Dragons had an outstanding triple-double game performance against the Jilin Northeast Tigers, earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com Player of the Week in the 29th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

The 24-year-old American shooting guard displayed a very impressive game night scoring 44 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out a unselfish 20 big assists, leading his team to win 133-123.
According to Asia-Basket, the former San Diego State University player had an amazing 55.6 percent shooting from the 2-point area and connected 6 treys out of his 14 attempts from the three-point region. Franklin turned to be the Shanxi's top player in his first season with the club with his very imposing stats this year.
The former NBA player is the league's 5th best in scoring averaging 33.2 points per game. He also averages 1.2 blocks and 2.9 steals per outing. He is shooting a steady 58.5 percent from the field.
Franklin is the 41st overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2013 NBA draft. Despite not appearing for the franchise in the 2013 NBA Summer League, he signed with the Grizzlies. Franklin was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Developmental League during his rookie season. The ballclub waived him in August 2014.
He signed with the Denver Nuggets in April of the following year and registered an average of 1.8 points, 1 rebound and 0.4 assist per game. He appeared for a total of 24 games with the Nuggets before being waived on July 13, 2015.
He first arrived in China in October 2014 signing in for a two-month contract with Zhejiang Lions of the CBA and appearing for 26 games. He also had a stint with the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Developmental League playing in late January and in early December 2015.
