An unidentified source on Tuesday revealed that Chinese forces crossed into the Indian territory of Ladakh in recent days, an incident that Indian authorities have denied.
According to the source, Chinese troops on Sunday crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) some 25 to 30 kilometers into Burtse, north of Ladakh, bearing placards that read "this is Chinese territory, go back."

After a "peaceful" standoff with Indian border police, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) went back to their side of the border but reportedly returned on Monday and pitched tents, bearing the same flags
India's army general Dalbir Singh Suhag on Tuesday denied the incursion, saying that "nothing like that" had happened. A spokesperson for the Indian military also denied the claims.
Defense Minister Arun Jaitley said no such encroachment of Indian territory by the Chinese occurred.
On the sidelines of a Navy headquarters inauguration, Jaitley explained to reporters that incidents of Chinese "transgression" in India are not uncommon mostly due to differing perceptions of the actual delineation of the LAC.
Jaitley said since both countries have deployed troops to patrol into their respective perceived LACs, "transgressions" occur, adding that such incidents should not be labeled as incursions.
On July, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping declared their intent to maintain peace, at the same time aiming for an accord at a negotiation solution to the border issue.
Weeks later, both countries admitted Chinese herdsmen crossed the border but sought to allay dispute concerns, claiming the issue had been amicably resolved after a flag meeting.
Jaitley said India and China aim to diplomatically communicate any transgressions through established means including border staff consultations and flag meetings.
He said programs such as the "Coordination on India-China Border Affairs" and the "Working Mechanism on Consultation" are based on mutually agreed provisions between the two nations.
