Agricultural Researchers Eyeing Global Outreach

(Photo : Getty Images / ChinaFotoPress / Stringer) Chinese agricultural researchers have been able to not only demonstrate, but also promote more than 70 new rice hybrids in 15 countries around Asia and Africa within the past five years.
Agricultural Researchers at The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (C.A.A.S) have announced the establishment of an overseas agricultural center to facilitate the export of China's agricultural technology and as well as to encourage international cooperation with neighboring countries.
Vice-minister of The Ministry of Agriculture and President of the Academy, Li Jiayang, also announced that his team will be seeking more multinational joint agricultural labs as well as agricultural technology exhibition centers starting this year up until the year 2020. Additionally, the team plans to encourage the people of China to share the fruits of economic growth in order to bridge the existing welfare gaps as part of the 13th Five-year plan.

China's five year plans are a series initiatives regarding social economic development. The 13th Five-year plan includes initiatives such as "Everyone is an entrepreneur, a creativity of the masses" and "Made in China 2025".
The C.A.A.S announced that it will be actively seeking the establishment of multi-national laboratories in other areas such as biotechnology, veterinary medicine and agricultural resources.
Chinese agricultural researchers have been able to not only demonstrate, but also promote more than 70 new rice hybrids in 15 countries around Asia and Africa within the past five years. They have also been able to establish cooperation laboratories in countries like Brazil, Belgium, Australia and Kazakhstan.
Zhang Taolin, China's Vice-Minister of Agriculture, concluded that the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences should also seek more breakthroughs in key research areas such as the development of new crops, breeds of livestock and agricultural technology.
The Ministry of Agriculture is also said to be targeting to cover more than 90 percent of China's farmland that already uses formulated fertilizers and will also conduct soil tests within the year in order to determine how much and what kind of fertilizers are needed. They also plan to reach their target of zero fertilizers and pesticides by the year 2020 as discussed in the 13th Five-year plan.
