Australian born comedian and 'Pitch Perfect' actress Rebel Wilson was supposed to play Mei Mei and was reported to be already in the process of recording for the role. However, she was forced to pull out after a scheduling conflict.
Meanwhile, Chinese superstar Jackie Chan returns for both the English and Chinese versions of the film, he plays Master Monkey in the English version and Po's biological father in the Chinese version.
61-year-old Chan hopes for more movies like 'Kung Fu Panda' because they "Help foreigners better understand China. I am very much delighted to see more and more foreign production companies engage in making Chinese inspired animations. So I am always ready to provide voices for characters in these types of films."
Also in attendance were actor Huang Lei, who voiced Po for the Chinese version of the film, as well as superstar pianist Lang Lang, who lent his talent for the film's soundtrack.
The latest Kung Fu Panda film follows Po as he is reunited with his biological father and then goes to work for a village of pandas to help fight off an evil ancient spirit.
