The 18-year-old Harbin, China native is world-renowned for his penchant in pulling off high-difficulty jumps and is said to be the first figure skater in the world to ever land a quadruple lutz-triple toe loop combination, arguably the most difficult element in the sport, in international competition.

He is also known as the first figure skater to execute four quad jumps in a free skate and six quads in a contest.

Jin reportedly pulled off the quad lutz-triple toe loop combination once more in the said Xinjiang winter games event, although his landing this time was not as flawless as his previous attempts.

Despite his growing reputation as one of the best figure skaters in the world as such a young age, Jin remains eager on refining his routines.

"I am the only one who can finish the quadruple lutz in the world now, and it is my advantage," he said. "But I didn't execute as well as I did in training. I also have to improve my sequence."

"I will try four quadruple jumps in my free skate," he added.

Rules of this year's National Winter Games says that extra points are given to competitors who pull off quad jumps "to encourage high-level of difficulty" in their routines, as per Xinhuanet.

Jin had just begun his senior figure skating career last year, a month after he turned 18 during the 2015 Cup of China held from November 6 to 8 in Beijing.

He "stunned the world by his difficult routines" during the competition and ultimately placed second to 2015 World champion Javier Fernández of Spain with a total of 261.26 points as against the Spaniards' 270.55.
