Tech giant Google announced on Feb. 4 that it is rolling out a new update for its Android Wear operating system. The update will be released on all smartwatches that runs on the platform and will be available to download over the "next few weeks."
Google said that the update will expand some of the platform's current functionalities. Tech experts believe that a feature to activate speakers, for smartwatch models, will be added as well.

Some new generation smartwatch models have speakers installed inside of them. However, as of this writing, Android Wear is yet to support this feature.
The upcoming update from Google will finally activate these speakers. By activating this feature, users can make and receive phone calls directly from their watch, provided it is synched with their smartphones.
In March 2015, Google introduced the gesture feature to the Android Wear platform. This feature allows users to flip between cards without physically touching the smartwatch's face. Users can simply flick their wrists where the smartwatch is worn and the gesture control feature will do the rest.
Google's upcoming Android Wear update will add more gesture controls to the platform. According to Droid-Life, the update will allow users to pull down the settings shade, open the home screen, cancel certain actions before they are finished, open the app menu and other actions on the card interface.
Regarding voice actions, Google is now giving users more options for sending messages through voice commands. Apps like Viber, WeChat, Hangouts and WhatsApp are now supported. Users can simply say "OK, Google, send WeChat message To Harry: Let's watch football" and Google's Android Wear will send the message to the appropriate contact using the correct messaging platform.
According to Techno Buffalo, the latest Android Wear update has already been rolled-out to the second generation Moto 360 from Motorola. Tech experts expect more smartwatches will receive the update soon.
