The Indiana Pacers are reportedly targeting Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague before the trade deadline and rumors were out that Larry Bird is "offering up" the team's starting floor general George Hill in exchange for the 2015 NBA All-Star.

Meanwhile, recent reports have also said that the Hawks are planning to split a team that may have already reached its peak potential and Teague, together with starters Al Horford and Kyle Korver, have all become potential trade pieces.

ESPN's Kevin Arnovitz and Brian Windhorst indicated that the Pacers "have made inquiries" regarding Teague's availability and that they have also "dangled" eight-year pro Hill in exchange.

It was also reported that Teague, who is an Indianapolis, Indiana native, has a "favorable contract" that is set to earn him $8 million next season, which is the main reason why he is currently tradable apart from the emerging play of backup Dennis Schröder.

However, a potential issue for the Pacers if ever the deal pushes through is Teague's less efficient three-point shooting as compared to that of Hill.

The 27-year-old former Wake Forest standout is an overall better ball handler, scorer, and playmaker than Hill, but the latter is a much reliable shooter from downtown, something that is quite important in head coach Frank Vogel's system.

Teague is a career 34.1 percent three-point shooter, but he had been getting better at it this season as he improved to a 40.9 percent shooting clip. Hill is 37.0 percent from downtown for his career and is currently shooting 43.9 percent.

CBS Sports noted that a trade involving Teague and Hill is "strange" because the two players are basically "similar" in play and function, plus they also earn the same salaries and both will be free agents in 2017.

The article then questioned that it does not seem to make sense trading Teague "for another starting-level point guard, just to have him come off the bench".

Meanwhile, Fansided argued that with starting shooting guard Monta Ellis also not known to be a beyond-the-arc shooter, pairing him with Teague along with Paul George in the starting lineup will apparently "hurt" Indiana's offensive spacing.

Also, the article argued that if Atlanta is serious about trading Teague, it is more likely that they will let him go for a younger talent that will potentially be a part of their next core group, rather than for someone who is entering 30 and would soon be on the decline because of age.
