The tournament's top seed and current world No. 12 Venus Williams of the United States defeated Misaki Doi of Japan in two straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to claim the 2016 Taiwan Open on Sunday at the Yangming Tennis Center. This is her 49th career WTA title.
The former world No. 1 Williams won the tennis tournament without losing even a single set throughout the competition to extend her victory run from her successful campaign in the Fed Cups held in Israel recently.

"I've had so much success in Asia," the multi-titled Williams said after the championship match, "I feel like it's very lucky to play here."
Doi, who was the tournament second seed, failed to win her second WTA career title after last year's victory in Luxembourg. She is currently ranked world's No.61.
A fan favorite in the tournament, the seven-time grand slam winner Williams wrapped the tennis match in just under 90 minutes.
She began her 2016 campaign with a series of setbacks. Williams participated in the World Tennis Thailand Championship where she lost to the Italian Sara Errani and Angelique Kerber of Germany.
She competed to defend her title in the 2016 ASB Classic but fell to the 18-year-old Russian Daria Kasatkina in the first round of the competition.
In the recent Australian Open she was stunned by the British No. 1 Johanna Konta and eliminated early in the opening round.
However, she bounced back in the Fed Cup, as she helped the Team USA to a 4-0 victory over Poland, posting victory in both of her singles matches.
