Early in January, reports surfaced that the Apple Music online streaming service had reached 10 million subscribers. On Feb. 11, Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue confirmed that it has indeed surpassed that figure and estimates that Apple Music has over 11 million subscribers.
Market analysts are generally surprised at how quick Apple Music has reached this milestone. In the face of extreme competition from other services, Apple launched Apple Music in June 2015 free for the first three months. The app was later released for the Android platform in November 2015.

After the three month trial period, subscribers who opted to continue their subscription had to pay $9.99 per month.
In order to boost subscription, Apple also had to cut some of Apple Music's free features. The Apple Music radio stations are now unavailable for free users. Instead, Apple has made Beats 1 radio the only free stations for those who are not subscribers to Apple Music.
Despite these measures, several analysts are still in awe at the rate of Apple Music's growth. In comparison, Apple Music's closest rival, Spotify, took six years to reach the same milestone.
Moreover, the surging popularity of Apple Music, along with Spotify, have directly affected the growth of another online music service, Pandora. While Pandora still has the most users, the service's growth had been on a slump recently. There are speculations that the administrators of the company are considering putting it up for sale in order to get the necessary resources needed to run the service.
As Apple Music reaches 11 million subscribers, another Apple service has also hit a major milestone. Cue claims that Apple already tapped 782 million iCloud users. He added that this massive user base uploads billions of photos to iCloud on a weekly basis.
Apple also claims that more than 200,000 iMessages are being sent every second. Additionally, more than 750 million transactions per week are completed on Apple App Store and iTunes.
