Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Based Smartphone Possibly Arrived on February 22

A new trailer has been released on Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu's official Weibo account showcasing its upcoming device - an Ubuntu based Meizu Pro 5 smartphone. The Meizu Pro 5 was officially released in September last year running on Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Flyme OS 5.0.

Although Android and iOS are the dominant operating platforms nowadays, Meizu seems to be picking a third option with the Ubuntu-based Meizu Pro 5, which is expected to be launched on Feb. 22.

The Chinese company posted a teaser of the device on its Weibo account. The device is expected to be launched at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. Although the teaser does not specifically name the device that will be introduced during this event, it is very clear that the smartphone will be running on an Ubuntu-based operating system.

The android-based Meizu Pro 5 smartphone features a deca-core, three-cluster SoC Helio X20 processor. The device features 4.7 inch Full HD display 1920x1080 screen with MIUI overhauled Android 5.1 software and comes with a built-in 32GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel front facing camera and 16-megapixel main shooter. It is powered by a 3050 mAh capacity battery and supports two SIM cards. The device also supports fingerprint sensor, GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz BAND, WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz, FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7, 2G & 3G & 4G LTE and 44 FDD LTE bands &frequencies.

Meizu Pro 5 Mini smartphone is now available on the market for the price of $350-$400.
