Zheng told reporters after the match that she had started well against the world 172nd-ranked Hlavackova, but also admitted that she had made "some mistakes in the second set" that allowed her opponent to steal a set from her.
She then said that she had "played on a high level in the final set" to snatch the win from the Czechoslovak, further claiming that she is currently "in good shape and injury-free".
World no. 137 Wang Yafan was overpowered by Kazakh world no. 82 Yaroslava Shvedova in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, while world no. 94 Wang Qiang succumbed to German world no. 52 Anna-Lena Friedsam in a hard-fought 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 match as both girls bowed out of the said qualifiers, as per Shanghai Daily.
"We played almost on the same level and I have to admit that in the tie-break in the final set I had a bit more luck than Wang," said Friedsam.
The 22-year-old Neuwied, Germany native said that she hopes "to recover quickly to be fit for tomorrow's match" as she caught a cold during the flight from Germany to Dubai a couple of days ago.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Qiang said that she "played hard and gave it all. Unfortunately the match ended like it ended".
Zheng demolished Turkey's Cagla Buyukakcay during her first qualifying match, 6-1, 6-0, last Saturday.
World no. 1 Serena Williams and world no. 2 Angelique Kerber, the recent winner of the 2016 Australian Open, have both withdrawn from the tournament because of separate injuries.
