The 30-year-old will be joining other international footballers who have recently joined Hebei Fortune, such as Gervhinho, Stephane M'bia and Gael Kakuta.
According to ESPN, Lavezzi had been "expected to join Shanghai Shenhua", but the Blue Devils (Shanghai Shenhua football club's nickname), who " released Tim Cahill this week" are "set to sign Seattle Sounders' Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins", who would become the fifth foreign player on their books.
Gregorio Manzano's squad recently signed Colombian Fredy Guarin from Inter Milan of the Serie A and Senegalese Demba Ba from the Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.
CSL clubs are confined to five foreign players in their team's line-up, with one of the five having to hold a passport belonging to an Asian Football Confederation nation. The sides are permitted to "field three nonnatives and one AFC player on the pitch at any one time."
Lavezzi will be the latest addition to the significantly growing list of high profile foreign footballers making the switch to China. The Chinese outfits have been very active in the transfer window and recently made headlines with a spate of multi-million dollar deals for players from different football leagues around the world.
