Guandong Southern Tigers demolished the Michael Beasley-led Shandong Golden Stars with a 125-105 victory to advance to the semifinal round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Friday night.

The game started as a close one, with Shandong, who hosted the match, ahead by three points after the opening quarter 31-29. The visiting Southern Tigers started to get their rhythm with a 35-30 run to overtake the lead 64-61 ending the first half of the game.

In the third quarter of the game, the series leader Guandong stretched their lead to a double digit advantage with a 26-19 charge to give them a ten-point lead 90-80, going in to the final twelve minutes of the rubber match.

The Southern Tigers never looked back and finished the Golden Stars in the final quarter of the ball game with a 35-25 run.

Nigerian-American Ike Diogu paced the Southern Tigers for the victory with an impressive double-double game performance of 29 points and 14 rebounds to go along with 2 assists.

Zhu Fangyu finished the night with a team-high 31 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while the Chinese basketball superstar and former NBA player Jianlian Yi contributed 27 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.

Justin Carter chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists, while Zhou Peng added 13 points and 5 boards for the winners.

On the other hand, Former NBA player and two-time CBA All-Star Game MVP Michael Beasley tried to lead the Golden Stars to the win but failed to so, even with another remarkable double-double game production of 35 points and 15 rebounds with 6 assists and 5 steals to end his 2015-16 season.

Guandong will be facing the winner between Xinjiang and the defending champion Beijing Ducks in the semifinal round of the league.
