Aside from rolling out a new update, the company also revealed that a significant change to the design of its band is possible soon. In connection with the move, Garmin has announced that it will be collaborating with designer Jonathan Adler, with the aim of making innovative wristbands.
Garmin recently announced its latest device called the Vivofit 3 wristband, which features a backlit display, can also also as an all-day activity tracker. It is also waterproof and has a super-long battery life. According to Garmin, it can last up to one year running on coin cell batteries.
What makes this device interesting is that it can automatically track a user's workouts such as biking, running, swimming, and elliptical training, and also has the ability to track intensity levels during workouts.
The Vivofit 3 wristband comes with a new design and options that are categorized into two distinct models - Garmin's own Style collection, and a series of accessory bands designed by Jonathan Adler. The Style collection includes black and white quilted bands, a camo band, and even a periwinkle braided band. Meanwhile, the Adler designs are more colorful: gray, purple geometrics, and green concentric circles, and a blue Goyard-like chevron pattern.
Like many other wearable device makers these days, Garmin is attempting to make more aesthetically-pleasing trackers. But, there is no mistaking that these are still trackers.
Meanwhile, the older model Vivofit 2 will be available for shipping in the second quarter of this year starting from $100 to $120, depending on the band.
