Recent rumors have emerged that Italian footballer Mario Balotelli is being sold by his mother team, English Premier League side Liverpool FC, to a still unnamed Chinese Super League squad after his current club AC Milan told the Reds that they are not keen on making the striker a permanent player either.

Metro indicated that Liverpool is already "in talks to sell" the 25-year-old Palermo, Italy native to a certain club from China's first division after I Rossoneri expressed their plans of not signing him permanently next season.

Balotelli is currently on a year-long loan with the Italian Serie A side and had played in only nine of the so far 26 domestic league games by Milan. He only scored once during those nine appearances.

The report further mentioned that Liverpool's commercial director Billy Hogan is already in China to discuss with potential suitors of Balotelli, but there were no official reports yet of any specific Chinese team targeting him.

According to the Daily Express, Hogan's number one reason in visiting China is to seek out sponsors for a new stand at the Anfield while selling the 6-foot-3 Italian international is the second priority.

Balotelli joined Liverpool in August 2014 from Milan for a transfer fee of £16 million, potentially as the ideal replacement for Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez, who is set to move to Barcelona during that time.

His debut game for the Reds was a success as the team beat Tottenham Hotspur, 3-0, at the White Hart Lane. He scored his first goal for the club in the middle of September, during a 2-1 Liverpool victory in the Champions League over Bulgarian squad Ludogorets Razgrad.

His first goal in the English top flight came in his 13th game for the team, though, which is the 83rd-minute winner during the Reds' 3-2 win against the Spurs at the Anfield nine, minutes after he substituted in for striker Daniel Sturridge.
