New ISIS Video Threatens Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey

China May Soon Join Global Military Campaign Against ISIS

(Photo : Reuters) ISIS has released a new video threatening the founders of Facebook and Twitter for not allowing them use both platforms freely to spread their ideology.

The tech community remains in an uproar after the militant Islamic State issued direct threats against Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. The threats were made in a video released by an ISIS faction calling themselves the Sons of the Caliphate.

The Sons of the Caliphate is reportedly an offshoot of the larger ISIS division called Cyber Caliphate, the division known for handling the cyber warfare and propaganda of the group.

In the video that is circulating online, ISIS posted the following text, "You announce daily that you suspend many of our accounts, and to you we say: Is that all you can do? You are not in our league."

ISIS added that Facebook and Instagram can close one account but in return the group will create 10. The group said that both Zuckerberg and Dorsey's names will be erased after their websites are deleted.

Prior to the release of the threat, Twitter announced that it has suspended 125,000 accounts related to ISIS. Additionally, Facebook also expressed its intention of ridding its service of users using the platform for terroristic activities. Facebook has banned users and accounts that post or share contents related to terrorism.

The Sons of the Caliphate hackers claim that they were able to penetrate both Facebook and Twitter. They even provided videos flaunting how they were able to hack Facebook and Twitter accounts.

According to USA Today, ISIS claims that it had hacked more than 10,000 Facebook accounts, 150 Facebook groups and 5,000 Twitter accounts. The group added that all these hacked accounts were distributed to supporters of its cause.

In order to minimize the effect of being banned on popular social media networks like Twitter, ISIS is said to be using other platforms in order to spread its ideologies. Reports indicate that ISIS members are slowly transitioning to mobile messaging platforms such as Telegram.
