Minnesota Timberwolves got the better of the Anthony Davis-less New Orleans Pelicans with a 112-110 victory courtesy of two free throws from Andrew Wiggins at the Smoothie King Center on Saturday night.

Wiggins, who struggled the whole evening shooting 5 for 15 from the field, gave the Wolves their 19th win in 59 games played this season with his stability at the stripe. The 2015 NBA Rookie of the Year converted two charity shots after he was fouled by Eric Gordon as he was going strong to the basket with 3.6 second left to play in the final quarter of the game.

The Canadian sophomore forward finished the game with 20 points going perfect 10 for 10 from the foul line in 36.39 minutes of playing time.

Rookie center Karl-Anthony Towns led Minnesota with a team-high 30 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. The top draft pick of 2015 went 13 for 20 from the floor in 35.45 minutes in the hardcourt.

"It was a collective effort," Towns said. "We could have quit at any given time. We kept falling behind by 12, 10, double-digit leads, but we kept fighting back. We never quit. That's what makes this win so satisfying. It was one of our better victories."

The 2016 Verizon Slam Dunk king Zach LaVine contributed 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including a trey with 2:43 remaining on the game clock to give Minnesota their first lead since the first quarter.

The game was mostly controlled by the Pelicans as they capped the third quarter with a 10-point lead 86-76 going in to the final twelve minutes of the match. In the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves staged a rally led by Towns and LaVine to close the gap and successfully take the lead 106-103.

Gordon connected a trey to tie it with 106 all with less than two minutes left to play. Gorgui Dieng then drove for a layup to give Minnesota a 110-108 lead with 26 seconds left, the Pelican tied the score with 110 all before Wiggin's free throws buried the game.

Anderson and Gordon led the Pelicans with 31 points each.
