Veteran power forward Kris Humphries is reportedly set to sign with the Atlanta Hawks after he was bought out and waived by the Phoenix Suns.

The 31-year-old big man was traded to the Suns, together with center DeJuan Blair and a protected 2016 first round draft pick, from the Washington Wizards in exchange for disgruntled forward Markieff Morris before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 18.

Humphries managed to play four games with Phoenix, starting three, before the contract buyout was finalized on Sunday. He pulled off a double-double during his Suns debut, a 116-100 defeat in the hands of the Houston Rockets, with 18 points and 12 boards in 27 minutes as a substitute, making him only the 13th Suns player to achieve the feat in his very first game with the franchise.

CBS Sports' noted that with Phoenix's season going nowhere (the team is currently second to the last place in the Western Conference with a 15-44 record), Humphries "will serve much more of a purpose on the Hawks, who are fifth in the Eastern Conference" with a 33-27 slate.

The Hawks have been wanting experienced role players off the bench this season and Humphries will definitely help the team in that area especially during their postseason campaign.

Atlanta lost newly-acquired big man Tiago Splitter for the rest of the season due to a right hip injury that required surgery to fix, which makes Humphries' arrival perfectly-timed for head coach Mike Budenholzer and his crew.

"The same generic stuff we've been saying," the head coach said on Sunday prior to Atlanta's 87-76 home win over the Charlotte Hornets, as per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I think we are looking for opportunities to get better to add to our group. Good players are important. It's definitely very fair to say (the team continues to look at the buyout market)."

Meanwhile, Humphries seemed to look forward in joining the Hawks, saying that "basketball always comes down to winning and competing, especially now that the season is so long. (Joining a playoff team) is always an option."
