Five-time Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC defeated fellow China top flight team Jiangsu Suning FC, 2-0, to capture the 2016 Chinese FA Super Cup at the Olympic Sports Center in Chongqing, China last Saturday.
Attacking midfielder Ricardo Goulart pulled off a double in the first half of play, at the 14th and 39th minutes, before the two teams held each other scoreless in the second half to lead the Southern China Tigers past last seasons' FA Cup winners, as reported by Four Four Two.

CSL newcomers Jackson Martinez (Guangzhou), Ramires (Jiangsu), Alex Teixeira (Jiangsu), Trent Sainsbury (Jiangsu), and Jo (Jiangsu) all appeared in the star-studded Chinese pre-season match for their respective squads.
Much was expected from the former Porto and Atletico Madrid striker Martinez, who was signed by Evergrande earlier this month for a fee of €42 million from Atleti, but it was the 24-year-old Goulart who "stole the show" for the two-time AFC Champions League winners.
Goulart converted his first goal in the first 15 minutes of the match coming from a magnificent header assist from midfield teammate Huang Bowen off a cross from left back Li Xuepeng.
The 28-year-old Huang was again part of Goulart's second goal, pulling off a nice cross in the path of the Brazilian, who headed it home past Jiangsu goalkeeper Zhang Sipeng.
Cri English noted that the match was the "most expensive clash in (Chinese) Super Cup history" with a total of "1.3 billion yuan worth of players" appearing all at the same time on the pitch following a successful China winter transfer window.
The Chinese FA Super Cup is a preseason game that traditionally opens the new Chinese Super League season, much like what the English FA Community Shield match does to the Premier League every summer.
It is disputed by the latest CSL champions and the FA Cup winners. If both squads are the same, the opponent of the team will be the CSL's runners-up of the previous season.
