(Photo : Reuters) Buick, Lexus and Porsche have been named the top three most dependable car brands in a recent study.
A study by J.D. Power has named the three most dependable car brands as Buick, Lexus and Porsche. The ranking was based on problems reported by owners.
The J.D. Power report also named GMC and Toyota in the top five of the most dependable brands. At the other end of the list, Dodge, Jeep, Ford, Land Rover and Smart were named as the least dependable brands and were listed as companies with the most problems reported per vehicle.

The J.D. Powers study is now in its 27th year. The latest study involved 33,560 owners of 2013 model year vehicles, who were asked about issues that they have encountered in the last 12 months. The most common complaint cited by the respondents involve problems regarding the car's navigation system, entertainment system and phone connectivity features.
The study is regarded by many market analysts as a major influential factor in consumers' opinion towards automobile brands. It appears that buyers, who are unhappy with their current brand, are less likely to choose that same brand when purchasing in the future.
The latest trend in terms of car technology is focused on the integration of smartphone features and connectivity on the car's dashboard. Market analysts agree that this trend is slowly taking form in order to make cars more appealing to millennials. Moreover, traditional car companies are also starting to embrace high-tech functionality as part of their cars' feature in order to prevent tech companies like Google and Apple from taking over the car industry.
Brands like Nissan, Cadillac and Nissan, all of which suffered significant dependability decline over the past years, have started to embrace the rise of technology. All three car manufacturers are starting to introduce cars with new infotainment systems.
On the other hand, Fiat, Volvo and Mini have improved their dependability scores despite making minor changes in their product lineup.
