(Photo : YouTube) Meizu will postpone or completely cancel the release of the Pro 5 Mini smartphone due to the recent earthquake in Taiwan.
Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has confirmed that production of the Pro 5 Mini smartphone has been suspended due to the recent earthquake in Taiwan. The device was scheduled to be officially released in the first half of this year.
The decision to suspend production of the device is linked to the fact that the earthquake which hit Taiwan last month caused severe damage to the Chinese company's resources. As a result of this, Meizu has announced on Weibo that it has temporarily stopped producing the mini version of the flagship device.

According to Li Nan, Meizu's Vice President of technology, most of the resources that were damaged by the earthquake were very essential to the Pro 5 Mini's production. Nan confirmed that they were already working on the launch date for the handset, but due to the unexpected calamity, the launch will be postponed or even potentially cancelled.
The Meizu Pro 5 Mini smartphone is a lighter variant of the Meizu Pro 5. The device will feature a 4.7-inch display screen with a pixel resolution of 1,080 x 1,920. The device is powered by MediaTek's deca-core MT6797 CPU, unlike the original Pro 5 which runs on Exynos 7420 chipset. The smartphone will come in either 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage.
On it software side, the device will run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. The Pro 5 Mini also comes with a microSD card slot and a fingerprint sensor.
In term of the camera, the handset is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera compared to the bigger Pro 5's 21-megapixel shooter. Another notable difference is the Pro 5 Mini's dual-SIM feature, however the handset does not have NFC support.
The Pro 5 and Pro 5 Mini have the same 3,050 mAh non-removable battery on board and the same 5-megapixel selfie camera.
