Incoming Chelsea FC head coach Antonio Conte is reportedly planning to swoop two AS Roma stars, namely Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan, as the current Italian national team manager wants to improve the Blues' midfield going into the next season.

Football Italia reported that Chelsea is "close to confirming" the 46-year-old Italian bench tactician as their new head coach and that he is targeting the Roma midfield pair of Pjanic and Nainggolan this summer as soon as he is appointed.

Conte has been the favorite to take over from interim manager Guus Hiddink after his stint in the 2016 UEFA European Championship with the Italian national squad this summer, which will be held from June to July of this year.

It was said that as soon as the former Atalanta and Juventus boss was advised of his status with the Pensioners, he immediately recommended the acquisition of both midfielders to club officials.

However, Caught Offside indicated that "there has yet to be any official confirmation from the parties involved over the situation", referring to Conte's impending appointment as new manager at the Stamford Bridge for next season. Still, it did not stop rumors from spreading about the Italian's list of dream signings for his would-be squad.

The report also mentioned that Conte is allegedly going to be signed into a three-year contract by Chelsea with an estimated salary of about €23 million.

The 25-year-old Pjanic has appeared in 24 games for the Serie A giants this season and has scored nine goals. The Bosnian had been with La Maggica since August of 2011 after he was transferred from Lyon for a fee of €11 million and was signed by Roma to a four-year deal.

Pjanic is now on his fifth year with the capital city residents, playing in a total of 175 games in all competitions and scoring 29 times.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Belgium international Nainggolan is on his third season with I Giallorossi, appearing in 93 games in all competitions and netting nine goals during the time span.
