British producer George Martin, who gambled on producing influential rock band The Beatles at a time when no one had the courage to do so, has died at the age of 90 on Tuesday, March 8. The announcement was first seen in a tweet posted by The Beatles member Ringo Starr. The reason for Matin's death has not yet been disclosed.

The Twitter post reads "God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara George will be missed xxx." Other celebrities also expressed their grief and sympathy to the family of Martin.

Sean Lennon, son of Yoko Ono and John Lennon, also tweeted about Martin's death. Song writer and producer Mark Ronson, musical artist Lenny Kravitz, and James Bond actor Roger Moore have all grieved over Martin's demise.

Martin was an avid supporter of The Beatles. He was extensively immersed in the career of the band, creating 23 songs for them that became number one hits in the US and 30 singles that topped the charts in the UK. Some of his music became popular movie themes like Live and Let Die (1973), Ferry Cross the Mersey (1965), Pulp (1972), and Honky Tonk Freeway (1981) among others.

His achievements include an Oscars trophy for A Hard Day's Night (1964) and a Grammy win for Best Musical Show Album (as a producer) in 1993. Martin also won a lifetime award at the 2012 Golden Badge Awards.

He is one of the very few artists as a producer to have number one hits (songs or albums) in more than three consecutive decades. Martin ruled the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s with great hits like You're Driving Me Crazy (1961), Sister Golden Hair (1975), Ebony and Ivory (1982), and Candle in the Wind (1997).

Martin is survived by Judy Lockhart Smith, his wife of almost 50 years, and his four children.
