After a long time of waiting, the Chinese version of "Plants vs. Zombies 2: Wonderful Cosmic Voyage" finally was published in the Apple App Store of China. Just after seven hours released, it has occupied the first place in the free games of the Apple APP Store. "Plants vs. Zombies 1" was a one-time purchase game. You pay PopCap 45 yuan, and then you can enjoy the game. Though "Plants vs. Zombies 2" is free to download, users may have to pay for a variety of power-ups and in-game currency if you want to throw yourself heart and soul into the game.

It is known Plants vs. Zombies 2's Chinese version was developed by a Popcap Chinese team. The Chinese version added a diamond-system. Users have to spend diamonds to unlock some plants. Or, players can use their real-world money to purchase Plants vs. Zombies 2's in-game currency, and then they can exchange special power-ups. For example, users can buy a power-up seed, and feed it to the peashooter, then it temporarily blasts a quick round of rapid-fire peas. Or feed it to the cabbage-pelt, then it takes out zombies in multiple lanes.
But soon users find the Chinese version is greedier. In English version, users have to buy six plants with in-game currency; while in Chinese version, users have to buy 13 plants. What's more, the prices for the plants are several times higher than in the English version.
According to some Chinese players, if you don't purchase Plants vs. Zombies 2's in-game currency, you won't get some plants. Users can still collect a regular supply of power-ups through the course of regular gameplay, but if you get into a jam, it will be really hard for you to bail out just by spending some collected sunlight on a plant. In this situation, you either die in the level or pay your real money for it to survive. Moreover, there are just two slots for fertilizer in the Chinese version instead of three slots in the English version. A Chinese user commented under the game in the Apple App Store: "You have to pay for the diamonds, or you'll have a tragic end."
