NBA Recap: Charlotte Hornets Rout Detroit Pistons to Win Sixth Straight Game

Charlotte Hornets continued their winning ways by beating the visiting Detroit Pistons with a 118-103 victory at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Friday night.

Starting forward Marvin Williams led the Hornets with 22 points including five three-pointers during the game, while fellow starter Nicolas Batum added a double-double game performance of 17 points and 11 assists to go along with five rebounds and two steals in 36:56 minutes of playing time.

"It was big," Williams, who went 7 for 12 from the field in 25:20 of game action, said. "We knew it was going to be a big time game for us. We wanted to protect our home court and we came out and did that tonight."

Kemba Walker finished the game with 16 points and eight assists, following his 35-point performance against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday evening. Courtney Lee chipped in 15 points and six rebounds for the Hornets, who have won six straight games in a row.

"Guys that have been in the playoffs and gone deep in the playoffs and know what it takes right now this is when they amp it up and get better," Hornets head coach Steve Clifford told. "They get their group to the next level and that's what we need to do."

Charlotte ended the first half with a 13-point lead 69-53. The Pistons made a 28-19 run in the third period and cut the deficit within seven points 88-81 going into the final twelve minutes of the game.

The Hornets contained the Pistons in the fourth quarter by establishing a big 18-point lead 112-94 with just 3:03 minutes left to play. Charlotte limited Detroit to just 22 points, while they produced 30 points to claim the victory.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 24 points and Reggie Jackson added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons.
