Zootopia continues to perform well in the Chinese market as it soared to $25 million on its second Saturday, setting a record high single-day earning for an animated film.

The mammal metropolis is expected to reach the $100 million milestone mark in China this Sunday. But it is too early to predict if it will compete with Kung Fu Panda 3 at about $152 million. If Zootopia earns more than the latest installment of Kung Fu Panda, it will earn the title of being the biggest animated film of all time in the Chinese box office history.

The Byron Howard and Rich Moore-directed story has already overtaken Big Hero 6 (at $83.5 million) as Disney Animation Studio's top-grossing title.

On Zootopia's opening week, the first Friday and Saturday were a bit slow in earnings with $3.4 million and $9.2 million, respectively. However, sales soared higher this week, which is its second week, at $10.6 million last Friday and a staggering $25 million on Saturday. Chinese audiences are reportedly lured to the film by how technology is incorporated.

Empowered with positive reviews and strong words of mouth, the bunny cop-heroine surely would not have any problem maintaining its top spot over its second weekend, with anticipated revenue at $47 million with some believing it could go as high as $50 million.

Aside from China, which is leading the overseas market sales, Zootopia also became the biggest Disney release of all time in Russia at $16.7 million, while in the Middle Kingdom, it grossed about $89 million.

Zootopia continues to go way beyond its expectations in China and across the world. On Friday, the animated film hit the $100 million mark in North America and $300 million across the world.
