NBA Recap: Indiana Pacers Beat Dallas Mavericks, Paul George Scores 20 Points

Indiana Pacers got the better of the Dallas Mavericks with a 112-105 win on Saturday to extend the host team's losing streak this season to five games.

Starters Monta Ellis finished the game with 17 points and Paul George had 20, scoring 18 points of his total game output in the second half to deliver Indiana's 35th win in 65 matches played this season.

"We've been the older guys on the team and have a lot of experience in winning situations and losing situations," Ellis, who went 7 for 13 from the field and dished out a team-high 7 assists, said. "You just try to keep the young guys focused and get them to understand the ups and downs in this league, and always think about the next game."

George Hill and Myles Turner scored 16 points and 15 points respectively, for the Pacers, who have won three straight and five of the last ten games they played.

With the win, theIndiana team is now two wins ahead of the Detroit Pistons, who as of writing are on the eighth spot in the tight Eastern Conference team standings with 33 wins and 32 losses.

Dallas on the other hand, dropped to 33-33 and became the eighth ranked team in the West. They are a half game behind the Houston Rockets with 33-32 record. The eighth spot squad will be facing the top team which is currently the Golden State Warriors.

Indiana ended the first half with a four-point lead 55-51, and produced 28 points in the third quarter while limiting the Mavericks to just 24 points to stretch their lead to eight 83-75 closing the third period.

In the final quarter, the Mavericks were able to close the gap to just one point 92-91 with 5:31 minutes remaining. However, Hill connected three consecutive three-pointers and a combined five points from Ellis and George that made it 106-99 with over two minutes left to play.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 30 points, while Wesley Matthews and Deron Williams added 15 and 13 points respectively.
