Tech company Adobo has released an emergency security update in order to patch a critical vulnerability detected on its Flash Player service. Online security experts claim that a bug was discovered on Adobe's Flash Player that may open a door and allow hackers to breach an unprotected system.

The latest Adobe Flash Player version 21.0.0.182 update is considered a critical patch. The patch was released for both PC and mobile users. Adobe advised users to download it immediately before hackers can take advantage of the vulnerability and launch an attack.

The latest Adobe Flash Player patch reportedly fixes 23 vulnerabilities on Windows, Linux, Mac, ChromeOS, iOS and Android platforms.

Adobe admitted that one of the vulnerabilities tagged CVE-2016-1010 is already widely exploited by hackers through limited and targeted attacks.

Back in July 2015, the Adobe Flash Player was patched after a Hacking Team was able to breach the system and left the program vulnerable to online attacks. Mozilla later decided to block all versions of Adobe Flash player on its Firefox browser "by default." Mozilla said that it will only lift the ban once Adobe patched the bug and released a more stable version of Flash Player.

Facebook jumped into the bandwagon in December 2015. The social networking giant decided to ditch Flash-based video players and picked HTML5 as a replacement, which the company claims that this offers a more secure framework. Last year, top video sharing platforms including YouTube, Netflix, Video and Twitch all decided to switch to HTML5 as a replacement for the then faulty Adobe Flash Player.

Tech giant Google recently announced its plans to also ditch Adobe Flash Player in favor of HTML5, which it plans to use for its display ads.

In a statement acquired by PC Mag in December 2015, Adobe said, "While standards like HTML5 will be the Web platform of the future across all devices, Flash continues to be used in key categories like Web gaming and premium video, where new standards have yet to fully mature."
