2016 AFC Champions League Group Stage: Shandong Luneng vs FC Seoul, Preview, Prediction & Predicted Lineup

In a battle of 2016 AFC Champions League unbeaten teams, Chinese Super League giant Shandong Luneng Taishan FC (2-0-0, 6 points) and K League Classic powerhouse club FC Seoul (2-0-0, 6 points) are set to meet at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Jinan, China on Wednesday, March 16th for a third round group stage match in the said tournament.

Shandong Luneng demolished reigning Thai Premier League champions Buriram United FC, 3-0, last March 1st also at their home stadium in Jinan during their previous game to remain undefeated in the tourney's group stage, as per Cri English.

Taishan Dui's game against the Thunder Castles started shakily as both teams tried to feel each other out and were unable to score goals in the first half of play.

Head coach Mano Menezes' boys found their form in the second half, though, with 30-year-old Brazilian striker Diego Tardelli leading the charge, opening the floodgates at the 65th minute of the match.

The scoring onslaught was followed by another Brazilian, midfielder Jucilei, at the 81st while Chinese defender Zhao Mingjian sealed the game four minutes before the full time whistle to complete Shandong's three-goal haul.

Meanwhile, Seoul routed J1 League champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima, 4-1, at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul, South Korea during their March 1st meeting, as reported by Fox Sports.

The Japanese actually drew first blood in the match with a goal from defender Kazuhiko Chiba at the 25th minute, but the Koreans was able to quickly equalize the game seven minutes later as midfielder Kim Won-sik netted one at the 32nd.

After a 1-1 first half, the hosts unleashed three more goals in the second half courtesy of a hat trick from 28-year-old Brazilian striker Adriano at the 49th, 56th, and 69th minutes respectively to overpower their visitors and keep an unbeaten record in the group games.

The predicted result is a tough 2-1 win for Shandong Luneng behind impressive games from Tardelli and Argentine midfielder Walter Montillo.
